  Notizen	nyshistoricnewspapers.org SULLIVAN COUNTY RECORD January 19 1922 page 1: "Edward H Matzinger, 28, son of Jacob L of Liberty, died at a New York Hospital on 16th Street last Sunday from injuries he sustained on Wednesday before when he was caught and crushed in the elevator of the Metropolitan Live Insurance Building on 23rd Street. Ed was employed by the Metropolitan Company as a store keeper and assistant Manager. Wishing to use he started toward the elevator himself downward, as he stepped inside he slipped and fell and finding no attendant the elevator caught him against the floor of the building and he was badly crushed. Body brought to Liberty where burial took place with military honors. Born in Liberty. In 1917 he enlisted with the band in the 71st Infantry, NY Nat'l Guard and at Camp Wadsworth he was transferred to the H Q Co of the 54th Pioneers Infantry. He was discharged as Corporal."
